These stories of adventure started in 2012 when Ruya Lilly was in my belly. Two babies later our adventure continues. There is no real plan, we are making this up as we go.
You don't have to be a nomad to live a nomadic lifestyle. We all have a wanderer inside.
Thank you for reading my words and musings.
I am a mother to Ruya Lilly and Aziz Elan. And a nomad in my bones. I've been wandering with my children since they were conceived. In the adventure of motherhood I hope to give my children roots and wings. Home is where we are.
Iām originally from South Africa. Ruya was born in California. Aziz was born in Cape Town. Nomads traditionally returned to places that offered them nurturance. So do we. We have a home base on the edge of Marrowstone Island in the Pacific Northwest.
Being nomad is internal and external. I continue to travel to places of family heritage, to Switzerland for my studies, and when I can beyond this into new lands. Internally I journey through learning the violin, the Turkish language and Jungian analysis. My children fly with me.
